Pope’s Visit to England
If you
put your name forward to be with the Pope in
Hyde Park or in Birmingham, then the
following information is important.
Hyde
Park, Saturday 18th
- find your own way to London but you must
bring photo id with you, a passport will do.
In London, you will be given an identity
code and an arm band. Follow Tom and Ethel
Ray to the Hyde Park arena. Once you are in,
you are free to roam as you wish. After the
Papal event, you are welcome to stay on in
London or find your own way home. Use
whichever method of travel you prefer but if
you are travelling by train, there are huge
reductions if you travel in fours. Check at
the rail station - in some cases children go
free.
Birmingham, Sunday 19th
- details of departure times have not been
released.
For
both venues, there is a special pack which
should be collected after Mass today.
Included is a booklet called ‘Magnificat’
which costs £2. So if you are going to Hyde
Park, the pack costs £7 and if are going to
Birmingham the pack costs £27.
Fr.
Tom will give more information at all Masses
this weekend. Please listen!
Fr. John Dunne RIP
Some
people will remember with great affection
Fr. John’s time in Leigh Park. He died
suddenly in Kiln Green on 13th August. He
only retired from being the parish priest of
Southbourne (near Bournemouth) last year. I
was able to be at his funeral in Port Loaise
on 20th August. May his gentle soul rest in
peace. See his photo in St. Joseph’s Church
porch.
